We’ve come a long way since the beginning of COVID-19. Vaccines are now widely available, cases fluctuate and rise and fall, and new variants are spreading. While we can’t revert to how everything was before COVID-19, we can adjust to a “new normal.” Most of us would welcome some sense of structure and normalcy, but what exactly does it look like?
While we can’t answer that question for every aspect of your life, we can clarify what the “new normal” is for visiting an orthopedic doctor.
When it comes to the “new normal” of orthopedic care in Knoxville and Athens, Tennessee, ORTHOKnox has got you covered for ACL tears, arthritis, rotator cuff tears, fractures, hip replacements, and many other orthopedic injuries. With its on-site physical therapists, board-certified surgeon, and dedicated physician assistants, you and your loved ones will receive the best treatment.
Should I schedule an in-office appointment?
Since orthopedic surgeons treat physical injuries involving bones, muscles, joints, and surrounding tissues that most often require x-rays, it is usually necessary to come to the office for an in-person visit. But calling or scheduling a telemedicine appointment for a consultation or follow-up appointment is welcome, too!
To schedule an in-person appointment for a consultation or to diagnose an injury, feel free to call us at (865) 251-3030 or fill out our easy-to-use online appointment request form.
Do I need to wear a mask?
Currently, masks are still required to enter Turkey Creek Medical Center.
Should I go to the ER first?
Especially with rising COVID-19 cases, you probably want to avoid the long lines and close contact with other people (who could be presenting with COVID-19 or another illness) in the ER. Presenting straight to an orthopedic office allows you to avoid the crowds, receive specialized care, including X-rays, and avoid an expensive ER visit.
If you have a known or suspected bone, muscle, joint, or tissue injury and need immediate care, you can head to our office for walk-in urgent care service at our Turkey Creek location Monday through Friday from 7am–5pm.
What if I do not want to come into the office?
You can talk with your doctor online with a telemed appointment. Call our office at (865) 251-3030 to schedule your telemed appointment, and you will receive a link to access your online appointment easily.
Sometimes in-person office appointments are necessary, and we will do our best to make it easy and safe for you!
What if I just have a question?
Don’t hesitate to call us anytime with questions at (865) 251-3030!
Do I need to make an appointment or should I just stop in?
If you need physical therapy, are returning for a follow-up, or are seeking preventative care, then scheduling an appointment may be best for you.
If you need immediate diagnosis and treatment due to an injury, then feel free to take advantage of our walk-in urgent care service.
