Neil Stoner works as a certified Physician Assistant with Dr. David Hovis. He serves as first assist in surgery as well as sees patients in clinic.

A Knoxville native, Neil graduated from Farragut High School and then earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Immediately following undergraduate school, Neil entered the Physician Assistant Program at Lincoln Memorial University in the DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine located in Harrogate, TN. He graduated in 2014 earning a Master of Medical Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies. Upon completion of his Physician Assistant education, Neil worked at an orthopedic clinic in Vero Beach, FL. Neil is an NCCPA certified Physician Assistant licensed in the state of Tennessee and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants as well as the Tennessee Association of Physician Assistants.

In June 2016, Neil and his wife, Leslie, returned to the Knoxville area from Vero Beach to join Dr. Hovis and the OrthoKnox team.

Michael Hoag, PT, DPT, MBA, OCS, MTC

Operations Manager

Michael Hoag, PT, DPT, MBA, OCS, MTC, is the operations manager for OrthoKnox Physical Therapy and a physical therapist with more than 21 years of experience providing outpatient orthopedic physical therapy care to the Knoxville, TN community. Michael has earned the prestigious credentials of an Orthopedic Certified Specialist (OCS) and is Manual Therapy Certified (MTC), ensuring that our patients receive quality care from highly trained specialists.

Michael has significant experience assisting individuals in returning to work. His expertise includes directing work conditioning programs and developing pre-employment screening tools. He focuses on an exercise-based therapeutic program and biomechanical assessments, complemented with manual therapy interventions.

Michael received his bachelor of science in health from the University of Richmond in 1993 and a master of science in physical therapy from Texas Woman’s University in 1995. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with his MBA in 2000, and he completed the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program through the University of St. Augustine in 2011. Michael works with several sports programs and teams in the Knoxville area.

Laura McCallister, PT, DPT

Physical Therapist

Laura McCAllister, PT, DPT, is a Knoxville native who joined OrthoKnox Physical Therapy in 2010. She received a bachelor of science in exercise science from Lipscomb University in Nashville and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. Her interests are in orthopedic and sports medicine rehabilitation. Laura assists with providing medical coverage for local gymnastics events.

Deena White, PT, DPT, CSCS

Physical Therapist

Deena White, PT, DPT, CSCS, is a physical therapist with more than 20 years of experience. Deena has practiced in eight states in a variety of settings with an emphasis in outpatient orthopedics, sports medicine, and work rehabilitation. Deena served eight years in the Naval Reserves as a hospital corpsman and physical therapy assistant with active duty experience at Balboa, Orlando, and Naples Naval Hospitals.

Deena earned her associate’s degree as a physical therapy assistant and a bachelor of science in pre-physical therapy from Southern Illinois University. She then completed her master of science from the University of Iowa and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from Regis University in Denver, Colorado.

Deena enjoys leading an active lifestyle and supporting her children in their athletic endeavors. She enjoys sharing this love of health, wellness, and exercise to inspire each patient to achieve their individual goals and continue to lead a healthy and active lifestyle following their physical therapy intervention.

Deena’s treatment philosophy emphasizes providing one-on-one care including education, manual therapy intervention, and evidenced-based treatment and exercise prescription to assist patients in returning to their highest level of function.
